St Donat's Arts Centre and Egerton Grey County House Hotel near Porthkerry, are working together to encourage tourists to come to the Vale for a short break.

Visitors can enjoy a traditional country house experience at Egerton Grey while spending a day learning about watercolour painting or photography.

St Donat's Arts Centre provides a stunning location for those interested to learn about the techniques of painting a watercolour or taking the perfect digital picture.

Using the natural environment around the centre or the fascinating Castle as a backdrop, there are lots of ways to be inspired.

Well-known local artist Peter Cronin and photographer Glyn Evans will teach participants how to develop their skills during day classes running from 10am until 4pm.

The dates of the classes are as follows: Watercolour and Landscape painting with Peter Cronin: May 15, June 19, September 18; Photography with a Digital Camera with Glyn Evans: September 27.

Richard Morgan-Price, proprietor of Egerton Grey Country House, said: "Our new working partnership with St Donats Arts Centre in 2008 provides us with a perfect fit.

"Our guests are used to a high quality of service at the hotel and enjoy the Vale countryside. These activity breaks provide an opportunity to learn a skill and enjoy our wonderful scenery.

"We look forward to working with St Donat's this year and beyond."

Janet Smith, general manager, St Donat's Arts Centre, said: "We are very pleased to be working with Egerton Grey Country House at a time when we need local support to ensure that the community will continue to be able to enjoy this wonderful facility."
