Helping out Olympic cyclist

Victoria Park Mazda is supporting Vale sports star and Olympic cyclist Nicole Cooke by providing her with a vehicle for the next year.

The Hadfield Road dealership in Cardiff has supplied a Mazda3 five-door hatchback to the hugely successful cyclist, who lives in Wick. Nicole will use the car to travel to training sessions and UK competitions.

Nicole has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Beijing Olympics in August.

"The Mazda3 is ideal for Nicole," says Gareth Jones, dealer principal at Victoria Park Mazda.

"We are very proud to support a Welsh sports star like Nicole who is not just a tremendous talent, but who is also very down to earth."

Nicole, 24, will lead the British cycling squad of 10 women, which is in contention for a Gold Medal at the Beijing Olympics.

As a junior, Nicole won multiple world titles and has since marked herself out as one of the sport's leading stars, the former world number one has had victories in the World Cup Series, the Tour de France Feminine and the Giro D'Italia plus a Gold Medal in the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the won the British Road Race Championship eight times.

"Nicole's team has a great chance to bring back a Gold Medal for Great Britain at the 2008 Olympics," said Gareth Jones. "Everyone at Victoria Park Mazda wishes Nicole the best of luck at Beijing this August."
